Casual Date Ideas

Dates don't always have to be stressful and elaborately planned.  Those types of dates are good for an occasional treat but those who are involved in a committed relationship or are looking to just get to know a potential partner a little better, understand the value of a casual date.  Some casual date ideas include going out to lunch instead of dinner, attending a sporting event, or spending a few hours at a coffee house.  All of these casual date ideas give a couple the opportunities to get to know each other better without the pressure of a traditional date.

Opting for lunch instead of dinner on a date is one way to make a date more casual.  Although dinner is the traditional meal of choice for a date, a lunch date is also acceptable for a casual date idea.  You still have the luxury of enjoying a meal together and engaging in pleasant conversation during the meal but simply changing the time of the day of the date, makes it tremendously less stressful.  For some reason the idea of going out to lunch seems much less intimidating than going out to dinner.  Perhaps this is because lunch is viewed as a less formal occasion.  Even restaurants often have a less formal menu for lunch than they do for dinner and often have much more relaxed dress codes for lunch than they do for dinner.  These factors contribute to the casualness of a lunch date but do not take away from the opportunity for the couple to get to know each other better and enjoy each other's company.

 A sporting event is another very casual date idea.  A date that takes place during a sporting event allows the couple to dress casually and enjoy an afternoon at the ballpark together cheering for their favorite team.  The focus of this type of date is on the playing field, which relieves the couple of the pressure of trying to make conversation.  Whether you are fans of the same team or opposing teams, you and your date are sure to enjoy this casual date.  If you both favor the same tea, you can spend the afternoon rooting for your team together.  If the two of you are fans of rival teams, you can spend the afternoon engaging in good-natured competition.  Although there are a few opportunities for conversation, the couple is not pressured to keep up a stream of conversation like they are during a more traditional date.  This makes a sporting event and excellent casual date idea for the dater who is concerned that their conversation skills would not be able to carry them through and evening of intensive conversation.

However, those who enjoy the art of conversation may favor a casual date in a coffee shop.  Here they can spend a few a few hours enjoying coffee and dessert with their date and engaging in intense conversations.  Whether you enjoy talking about yourself, politics or current events, you and your date are free to engage in conversation until your hearts are content.  In fact, this type of date offers very little but a chance to get to know each other through meaningful conversation.  Those who are comfortable sharing their hopes and dreams in a casual atmosphere will love the coffee house date.  This is also and excellent date idea for a couple in a committed relationship.  They may have plenty of opportunities to spend time together but none that offer the chance to really relax and just talk like a coffee house date.

Casual dates can be a welcomed change from the more traditional dates that hold a certain degree of formality.  Some of the advantages of a casual date are that they often relieve the couple of the pressures of conversation and that they allow the couples to truly be themselves.  These two factors alone make a casual date an excellent opportunity to really get to know each other.  A more traditional date does tend to be more formal which does not encourage the couple to truly be themselves.  The formality of the atmosphere causes some people to try to act the way they believe they are expected to act instead of the way that they normally would act.  Opting for a more casual date is one way to prevent this from happening.
