Those who date on a regular basis can attest to the fact that dating can be an expensive endeavor.  If you always opt for elegant restaurants and gifts of flowers and candy to offer to your date, chances are your dating budget is beginning to run a little dry.  Dating does not have to be expensive though.  There are plenty of activities for you and your date to enjoy that are very inexpensive and some that are completely free.  You may even find that some of the less expensive activities are a good opportunity to get to know your date better because they are more relaxing and therefore more conducive to honest conversation.

A picnic in a park is a very inexpensive date idea that is also very romantic.  Whether you choose to make a couple of sandwiches and drinks yourself to bring along on the date or stop by a deli to order take out, you and your date will enjoy sharing a meal outdoors at a local park.  Here the location is completely free and the food is as expensive or inexpensive as you choose it to be.  The idea of picnic is an original date idea that lends a sense of romance to the date while not increasing the cost of the date.

A trip to a local museum is also an inexpensive date idea.  The admission fee for the museum is usually not very expensive and you can spend an entire day together admiring the artwork.  This is a fun date where you can also learn quite a bit about your partner.  Their taste in the art can say quite a bit about their personality.  For example whether they admire more realistic or more abstract artwork is a good indication of whether they are more logical or more liberated in their approach to life.  An art museum is an excellent way to get to know your date on a different level without investing a great deal of money on the date.

Taking a class together can be another inexpensive date idea.  Many community colleges offer classes on a wide variety of interests such as cooking, pottery, art and even finances.  These courses are usually relatively inexpensive and some of the courses only involve one night of lecture or demonstration making them an ideal dating situation.  Choosing a course that you will both enjoy can be a fun way to spend a date night.  An added bonus to this type of date idea is that you and your partner can learn a skill that you can apply to future dates.  For example, if you take a dessert-making course, you can get together for another date and attempt to recreate the scrumptious dessert that you learned to make in your class.  It may not turn out as well as when you had an instructor guiding you but nevertheless it will be a fun experience.  

Bowling is another inexpensive date idea that can be a lot of fun.  This is an enjoyable activity that adds a component of competition to the date.  This is an especially fun date idea of one of you does not already know how to bowl and the other one is very experienced.  This gives one of you the chance to share your knowledge by offering your partner a few tips. 

Another inexpensive date idea is to cook for your partner at home and rent a romantic movie.  You can decide to do all the cooking yourself, which is one way to really pamper your date.  You may also wish to involve your date in the cooking process.  This option gives the two of your additional time to spend together and working towards a common goal can draw you closer together.  Choosing foods that are a little exotic or that you don't usually indulge in will make the evening seem more special.  After dinner, don't worry about cleaning up because now it is time to enjoy a moving together.  Curling up to watch a romantic movie after a home cooked meal is the perfect end to an inexpensive date.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy your date's company without spending an exorbitant amount of money.  Dating does not always have to be complicated an expensive.  Often it is the simpler and less expensive dates that create lasting memories.
